Protect teeth from cavities with advanced sealing technology.

PROPHYLACTIC SEALANTS

Our prophylactic sealants offer a simple, pain-free solution to shield teeth from decay, providing long-lasting protection and promoting better dental health for both children and adults.

A dental sealant is an acrylic-like material that is usually applied to the surface of a tooth to provide protection on enamel from bacteria that cause decay. This is a safe and painless form of treatment to stop tooth decay. Fissure sealant procedures are quick and straightforward, usually only taking a few minutes per tooth. Fissure sealants are different from fillings as they are preventative and are not used to treat existing decay.

Thorough brushing and flossing help remove food particles and plaque from smooth surfaces of the teeth. However, toothbrush bristles cannot reach all the way into the depressions and grooves to extract food and plaque. The sealant acts as a barrier between the teeth and any food or beverage it comes in contact with. Sugars and carbohydrates fuel tooth decay, so the sealant helps in preventing sugary foods from getting stuck in the grooves of the teeth.

Prophylactic sealants are a dental treatment used to prevent tooth decay. They are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars). The sealant fills in the grooves of the teeth, making them smoother and less likely to trap food and bacteria that can lead to cavities.

Prophylactic sealants are often recommended for children and teenagers, as their newly erupted permanent molars are more prone to cavities. However, adults who have deep grooves in their teeth may also benefit from sealants to protect against decay.

Prophylactic sealants can last for several years, typically between 5 to 10 years, depending on factors like oral hygiene and eating habits. They should be checked regularly during dental visits to ensure they are intact, and if necessary, they can be reapplied or repaired by a dentist.
